Whitewater Preserve, 02-20-11

Trout looking to be fed at the old fish hatchery, now the Whitewater Preserve.
Mt. San Jacinto the morning after the storm looking from the old highway.
Whitewater Wash flowing good from yesterday's storm.  Today's ride: 34 mile out-and-back to the Whitewater Preserve.  There was cold headwind making it a challenging uphill ride out and  a cold windchill on the high speed dowhill run home.  We made a short stop on the way back for Gary to repair a flat tire.

Some of the 10,000 Cyclists Participating in the 2011 Tour de Palm Springs, 02-12-11

17 handcyclists participated in the 2011 Tour de Palm Springs.  This athlete is climbing the long grade on Dillon Road as part of the 55 mile TdPS route.  55 miles using all upper body strength is very impressive!  Handcyclists are athletes who usually are amputees or live with paralysis of the lower extremities.
Today's ride: 55 mile TdPS Event on a warm beautiful day.  Newspaper says record turn out of nearly 10,000 registered riders in the year's event.

Early Encelia Blossoms, 02-09-11

Today's ride: 18 mile out-and-back to Hermit's Bench in the Indian Canyons.  Beautiful cool morning ride.  No matter how many times I ride the Indian Canyon road it still affects me as the most beautiful 2 1/2 miles of road in the Coachella Valley.
